  • First version of nethack with a bestiary?
Prior to 3.1.x the dat subdirectory didn't exist yet but data.base was present somewhere, possibly in the src subdirectory instead. I don't know whether it goes as far back as hack 1.x or even nethack 2.x. The source code for a bunch of old versions is present at https://nethackwiki.com/ but I'm not sure whether the data files are all there too. The source code for the most recent released version (3.6.7) is... Source: 12 months ago
  • Is there a discord?
I am not sure what extra benefits the Steam version has, but the game is available for free either as download on nethack.org, or to play online at something like alt.org/nethack or hardfought.org. Source: 12 months ago
  • REMINDER: You only need two people to play D&D
You don't even need two people to play D&D, Nethack is great! Source: about 1 year ago
  • I just bought factorio
I've always been fond of the last quote on nethack.org. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Went to see the video game exhibit at the NY MOMA
It was discussed here last fall, when the home page for nethack.org was updated to mention it. The blurb includes a few other tiny screen shots and says the exhibit is scheduled to be open until mid-July. Source: about 1 year ago

  • Superfile – A fancy, petty terminal file manager
I very well might be in the minority of Linux users, but I don't particularly care about the answers to most of these questions. I just want it to work. Give me solid defaults[0]. I'm not saying you shouldn't be able to override those defaults. That's an important feature of Linux. My first experience running a cool-looking TUI file manager yesterday (I actually ended up trying yazi first) was that I got a lot of... - Source: Hacker News / 13 days ago
  • what terminal emulator would you recommend?
Wezterm is pretty good, I've been using it for a long time without any issues. The feature set is honestly huge and I'm probably using 10% of the capabilities, but I like having a lot of options. Source: 5 months ago
  • Terminal emulators that break from the traditional rendering approach?
And my own humble entry in this space is wezterm: https://wezfurlong.org/wezterm which has a decent population of users in Japan and a handful of arabic/RTL users for the unfinished bidi support. Source: 12 months ago
  • Switching from Emacs. My experience
Either Wezterm OR Window-terminal I Personally use WindowTERM with alacritty * when needed Since WindowTerm has some weird ncurses issues ,. Source: 12 months ago
  • Terminal app built over WebGPU, WebAssembly and Rust
AFAIK wezterm[1] and warp[2] are built on top of the WebGPU [1] https://wezfurlong.org/wezterm/ [2] https://www.warp.dev. - Source: Hacker News / 12 months ago
