Prior to 3.1.x the dat subdirectory didn't exist yet but data.base was present somewhere, possibly in the src subdirectory instead. Katawa Shoujo: When I played this in the summer, I messed up A LOT of things on what to do. More or less, I sorta goofed up in terms of routes and such. And I picked it back up and It's honestly one of the best indie VN's I've played. This game is really a different breed. Both in terms of effort and story. I can proudly give this one a solid 9/10.
