  • CONSENSUS IN BLOCKCHAIN
This idea is significant and different from PoS. PoI not only relies on how large a stake a user has in the system, but it also monitors the usage and movement of tokens by the user in order to establish a level of trust and importance. It is used in the NEM coin blockchain. More information about this coin is available from NEM's website (https://nem.io) . Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Can someone explain me the most recent price drop?

  • Ready for the NEM (XEM) airdrop. Just over 500 blocks left!!
Oh for god sale guys I just looked on the xem website (https://nem.io) and it says that snapshot time is 03:50 utc. (Or block height 3,105,500) I can’t understand why it says 00:30 utc on the Binance site. Have they done a typo? Or have they estimated the time wrong to the block height? Strange... • What is your plan for incoming NEM Symbol airdrop?
Airdrop is about distribution of neW Symbol tokens to any NEM holders who opt in. And you are not late, snapshot will be 12/3/2021 Https://nem.io. Source: about 3 years ago

  • Bitcoin is not a Store of Value
    >I think, in the next years, we will see more and more of these useful proofs cropping up. And people will understand the value they're "storing", no pun intended. You could be right, but the first time something like this was discussed was around 2010 [1], and here we are 12 years later, still waiting for widespread implementation of a "useful" proof of work. [1] https://primecoin.io/ was the first result of that. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
  • Mersenne prime M(57885161) verified as 48th Mersenne prime
One of the first I heard of was Primecoin [0], which still seems to be going along steadily. They've actually uncovered a number of world records [1] looking for Cunningham Chains. [0] https://primecoin.io/ [1] https://primes.zone/#records. - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
  • Awesome Bitcoin technical FAQ from MIT: a discussion between professor and students at "Distributed Systems" class / tons of useful Q&As for new&old to Bitcoin
A: Maybe -- here are two attempts to do what you suggest: https://www.cs.umd.edu/\~elaine/docs/permacoin.pdf http://primecoin.io/. Source: almost 3 years ago
  • Why not make the proof of work useful?
The closest we've come to what you might call "useful" proof of work is Primecoin, which searched for chains of prime numbers, to the delight of some mathematicians. But it's pretty much a dead coin now. There are also some coins that appear to have solved it, such as SolarCoin, but look closer and you'll find that they are completely centralised. That's not a trade-off Bitcoin can make. Source: about 3 years ago
