There's an odd little retro dungeon crawler called Paper Sorcerer that might work for you. It's always high contrast, but I think some areas are light mode instead of dark mode so you might need something that can invert the colors at points (I'm not sure if something like NegativeScreen would work in games). I would like to reduce the screen brightness of the lcd backlight further than what I currently am able to do (working at night and saving battery/my eyes). I tried this but it is just a filter, which is bad for colors and sometimes the filter is not applied to certain system ui elements, therefore blinding you. Source: about 1 year ago
