  I ended up using Moom [1] to work around some of the oddities of macOS window management. It's relatively low-feature, mostly for window arrangements and sizing. I use it on a vertical monitor to split window placement horizontally, since macOS can only natively do vertical splits.   Rectangle Pro can do that, if you pair it with advanced bettertouchtool triggers. But I don't think your solution is optimal, it'd be much easier to create a reddit.com webapp with e.g. fluid.app, make so every reddit link is handled via the reddit webapp using e.g. openin.app, and just store its size and location in app window presets which Rectangle or BTT can do easily.
