You won't avoid interfacing with an API. Even if you don't want to use Stripe/PayPal, you'll need to wrestle with a banks own API or some kind of broker. TrueLayer is a popular way in Europe to access banks that support the Open Banking API. I had a subscription with TrueLayer. The API service was smooth and their team updated me from time to time. They even helped me with regulation by giving us an agency under their FCA license.
