Also, I heard from my friend, that his DAC is a Pangolin FB3. If you have a licence to the Beyond software, then you can use the modulaser app to interface with MIDI. It sounds like it's exactly what I need, and is only $100 (free trial). It was a bummer when I heard that the Beyond license is $700. The cyclops is specifically for the modular domain, but it looks like there are other laser DAC's which might do something similar. It's capable of it, but you may actually get better results if you separate out the tracks first and then run them individually through the basic pitch model.
