  • First-Gen Social Media Users Have Nowhere to Go
I see this all the time and while at the time I thought the same there's so many good alternatives these days, even better than back then. All the interesting and small websites I want to follow still have RSS feeds so I feel like we can move on. The two I use for many years already are: - https://miniflux.app (OS, Minimal, web interface and can be used with all clients that support Fever or Google Reader API) -... - Source: Hacker News / 3 months ago
  • Show HN: Twine – Gorgeous open source multiplatform RSS app
And like with most multiplatform apps, it doesn't look native at all on iOS. I prefer my current combination of: https://netnewswire.com + https://miniflux.app Both open source too. - Source: Hacker News / 3 months ago
  • [Hobby Scuffles] Week of April 24, 2023
Ive had pretty good luck finding feeds for stuff I want to subscribe to. There isn't always an explicit rss link but you'd be surprised how many blog platforms provide a /rss or /feed endpoint by default. The reader I use is pretty good at finding them if I just give it a link to the home page. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Serving an RSS reader and a browser best way?
I have miniflux https://miniflux.app/ as my rss reader. It is setup in a container and if I am outside of my home network I use tailscale to connect to the local network. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Gripes with RSS after one week
As a recent returnee to the world of RSS feeds, I’ve been enjoying the miniflux client [1] self hosted with docker-compose. Fast, cross-platform, not fancy. [1] https://miniflux.app/. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago

  • Happy 20th Anniversary, Gmail. I'm Sorry I'm Leaving You
It really is hard to leave Gmail when all of your data has been conveniently stored therein. This is one of Google's retention strategies and it is indeed brilliant. That said, there's a vast number of self-hosted alternatives like Stalwart Mail (email) [1], Immich (images) [2], NextCloud (Google Docs) [3], etc. [1] https://stalwa.rt [2] https://immich.app [3] https://nextcloud.com/. - Source: Hacker News / 14 days ago
  • I accidentally built a meme search engine
Last year we added CLIP-based image search to https://immich.app/ and even though I have a pretty good understanding of how it works, it still blows my mind damn near every day. It's the closest thing to magic I've ever seen. - Source: Hacker News / 17 days ago
  • Show HN: Memories, FOSS Google Photos alternative built for high performance
I’m a big fan of https://immich.app/ and I use it every day for thousands of assets. - Source: Hacker News / about 1 month ago
  • pgvecto.rs 0.2: Unifying Relational Queries and Vector Search in PostgreSQL
Real-world applications often require complex queries that go beyond simple Approximate Nearest Neighbor (ANN) search. To explore a practical example of such applications, let's take a closer look at immich, a self-hosted photo and video backup solution that highlights the importance of advanced vector and traditional relational queries. - Source: dev.to / about 2 months ago

Why that one specifically? Doesn't say anything about free or open source. I use this one. https://immich.app/. - Source: Hacker News / 3 months ago
