Top 10 Best Container Software in 2022
If you are hunting for a container software that can easily integrate with Ubuntu, then LXC is a reliable option. For semi-managed clustering, you can go for CoreOS. The business purposes solved by Portainer covers querying dockerHub repositories and it is in deed a good tool for beginners.
OpenShift alternatives
The main advantage of Portainer is the flexibility of the software. In addition to Kubernetes, Docker Swarm and Docker can be used to manage clusters and containers. Portainer is based on open-source software and is offered in a freely available community version as well as a paid version with enterprise support. The software can be installed in cloud environments, on edge...

  • On perm automated repair?
Yes there is! Check https://metal3.io/. It is a provider for the Cluster API targeting bare metal. If a machine fails, it can try rebooting first, then go through a full disk clean and re-installation. Alternatively you can mark it as unhealthy and it will just pick another machine instead (provided you have a spare). Source: 10 months ago
  • Node autoscaler for on-prem/homelab?
If you have proper servers with baseboard management you could use Cluster API and the Metal3 provider. It will not suspend the nodes, but actually deprovision then and turn them off. Https://metal3.io/ Full disclosure: I'm one of the maintainers. Source: 11 months ago
  • Understanding charmed kubernetics
Notable there is it looks like they're using MAAS instead of MetalAPI that OpenShift (a competing distribution) prefers. It also looks like there's some sort of tie-in with their "Landscape" systems monitoring. AppArmor is involved which I'm assuming is a reference to the container hosts using MAC as a failsafe for container isolation. RH does something similar with SELinux on OpenShift where it uses SELinux's MCS... Source: about 1 year ago

  • Every Project Deserves its CI/CD pipeline, no matter how small
Portainer is a really great web UI which will help us to manage all our Docker hosts and Docker Swarm clusters very easily. Let's take a look at its interface where it lists all our stacks available in the swarm. - Source: dev.to / 8 months ago

  • Selfhosting Vaultwarden, How Is It Done?
There are some docker management systems around, portainer.io seems popular, with a GUI (graphical user interface) and configurable templates. Also cloud management systems/cloud hosting seem to offer a GUI to create and manage containers. Source: 11 months ago
  • Dashy - Cant get the widgets to show
I am really new to the home lab game. I have been using linux heavily since I got my two pi's and set up docker, portainer.io, pi hole, dashy, etc. The problem I am having is no matter how many ways I try to add a widget as simple as a clock to my dashy it just break the whole page. I enabled highlighting in my nano so I could see any errors but I am still not finding what I am doing wrong. Does anybody have... Source: 10 months ago
