  A potentially cheaper option: get yourself a small-to-mid-sized Android tablet or Chromebook (7-10" is the sweet spot for this for me, if that helps) and figure out a way to stand it up on your desk, and get an app called Matric on that and your PC.   The method that seems to work most reliability with all devices and all ecosystems is a Zigbee2MQTT software hub running on a computer alongside Home Assistant. The Z2M project has a list of compatible USB dongles which are typically around $20-30 (The Sonoff being a good one) but you still need a server (i.e. a small computer like a thin client or raspberry pi) and install and configure the software, so this...
