  • Mass Scanning
Can I get banned for mass scanning with https://github.com/robertdavidgraham/masscan or does it slow down any other vms from other persons? Source: 12 months ago
  • Has anyone ever had their homelab or network hacked? What happened?
Nope, this doesn't work any more. Shodan checks all ports (so any attackers using data from Shodan already know which ports you have open), and tools like masscan (https://github.com/robertdavidgraham/masscan) let you portscan the entire IPv4 address space in less than 10 minutes. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Private server intruded
The discord user at the time used the tool "Masscan" to scan every 25565 port on the internet, he claims he was able to get the entire internet scanned in just a few minutes with a 512MB buyvm slice. Source: about 1 year ago
  • My home server is frustrating me. Please help me, home server wizards.
Changing the default port does nothing for security. It only prevents some basic brute force or default password scripts. Anyone is able to scan for it in no time anyway (https://github.com/robertdavidgraham/masscan). Source: about 1 year ago
  • Should I be Concerned?
But it should blow away the far-too-common belief that no-one's after you because you're not interesting enough. IPv4 is smaller than we think. It is not difficult to scan the entire ipv4 space in minutes. And every single one of those is going to knock your door on the way past. Source: about 1 year ago

TCPView mentions (37)

  • Why there is no good task manager and system monitoring software on linux?
It's basically like https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/tcpview but for Linux. Source: 10 months ago
  • Some people prefer using DCS on Steam for the download speed, yet I get my whole 1Gbps bw used every time with the ED installer. What is the deal?
Unfortunately I don't think there is an existing list of CDN endpoints to pick from, I found a few by starting updates while using a VPN and using tcpview to find which IP address it was connecting to. Once I'd found one that was faster than the default I opened my hosts file: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts. Source: 11 months ago
  • How do I know what ports an application is using?
Try https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/tcpview and it will show you in real time what ports are being used to connect to there. Source: 12 months ago
  • How to detect RCE/arbitrary code injection/RAT's from video games
Maybe something like TCPView: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/tcpview. Source: about 1 year ago
  • strange remote listeners from private ip with "winrm" command
I understand that netstat isnt exactly user friendly so if you'd like to keep monitoring the situation you can use SysInternal's TCPView https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/tcpview which displays everything for you in a GUI. Just don't forget to filter for only listening ports cause it will show all connection states by default (use the green flag icon). It even has the added benefit of... Source: about 1 year ago
