Introduction: Varsity Tutors is another website to find English tutors online. Same as Wyzants, it offers both online and in-person private lessons. Sadly you can’t see the prices directly and would need to inquire for a quote. It does, however, ask a...

  • Is this wrong? If so, why?
Russian word order is very flexible but not random; it's influenced by tone/register (formal? informal? Emotionally colored somehow?) and context (what's already been talked about, vs. new information). Unfortunately, there's no way that Duolingo's isolated sentences, with no hint of context or tone, can account for this. If you continue with Duolingo (I'd suggest you look at mangolanguages.com , which is free... Source: 12 months ago
  • language learning apps
Mango Languages might be good for them. Check with your library to see if you can get free access because it's free through many libraries. There's an app for it too. There's also Destinos for Spanish and NHK has a Japanese course. For ASL, there's ASL University. EdX and Alison have courses too, but they may be for an older audience. All of the ones I mentioned are free. Source: about 1 year ago
  • I feel like doulingo is lying to me
In general, be ready for Russian to express things differently from English. Similarly, Как вас зовут? = What's your name? But как is not 'what,' вас is not 'your,' and зовут is not 'name' – the Russian is literally 'how you they call.' Whether Duolingo will explain those things is another matter... Mango languages does a better job of that IMO. Source: about 1 year ago
  • "Could you repeat that?"
Mango Languages have this feature where you can align your own recording with that of a native. So no more a computer that judges you, you do it yourself. Just align the sounds and see if they sound the same when played at the same time. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Advice on Homeschooling my Little Brother
The school not having an ESL program for your cousin is a bit concerning but, there are ways to help him learn. You should check with the local library to see which resources they have available. My library gives access to Mango Languages and Transparent Language, which are pretty good for learning the basics of a new language quickly. I also found some websites here and here that may be helpful for him, and this... Source: about 1 year ago

Get yourself a tutor. wyzant.com has online tutoring and would be a good place to start. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Is there anyway I can find remote jobs where I can work 15-20 hours per week?
Yea if you go to wyzant.com and search organic chemistry you'll see a ton of other tutors who already teach that subject, and you can see what rates they charge. Look for someone who has similar experience to you in orgo and plan on charging a little less (since you need to attract your first students). Once you sign up you might have to take a quiz but other than that it's pretty easy to get set up. Source: over 1 year ago

  • Just starting as a tutor, how do I begin?
I started years ago using wyzant.com. It was a good start because they do the marketing for you and you can set your own prices. However, they take a pretty large cut. Once I built up a clientele, I created my own website that allows students to easily schedule and pay online. Source: over 1 year ago
