FAQ: What are the differences between Avoyd and MagicaVoxel?
Some things you can do in Avoyd that you can't do in MagicaVoxel: World size up to 26k voxels a side. No limit on the number of voxels other than memory. 64k materials (vs. 255 in .vox). Compressed .avwr voxel files, ~10 times smaller than .vox for large files. Import Minecraft maps .mca and .nbt schematics. Export to .hdr and .exr with image sizes up to 16k a side. Export...

  • I spent 4 months building Kharkiv in Minecraft
You should check out this software: https://ephtracy.github.io/ You can build 3d models with blocks and even export them to minecraft. Source: 10 months ago
  • Update on Vox Uristi: A voxels export tool to make 3D rendering of fortresses
Hey there, I posted about Vox Uristi a while ago at the beginning of the development, and it's close to be feature complete - so here is an update. Vox Uristi is a tool to export fortresses in 3D models that can be opened in Magica Voxel to make renders. Blind made a nice video explaining the process. It relies on DFHack, and it's free and open source. Source: 11 months ago
  • is magicavoxel safe?
Also want to confirm that you're downloading it from the official website https://ephtracy.github.io/ and not anywhere else. Source: 11 months ago
  • Avoyd 0.15.0 Full Release: MagicaVoxel .vox Export, Improved Denoiser and Fixes
You can use the new export to MagicalVoxel .vox feature to export Avoyd worlds to the .vox format for use in MagicaVoxel along with other programs which support .vox such as Qubicle, IOLITE voxel game engine, RPG in a Box, Idu, Teardown and more. Source: 12 months ago
  • Build | Tank | Mod: Chisels and Bits - Small Blocks
So use multiple blocks. Or even better, use a different tool that integrates with MagicaVoxel. Source: about 1 year ago

  • How to name the new bundle of importers?
I'm finalizing a large bundle of raster graphics and animation importers for Godot. This bundle already supports: Aseprite, Krita and Pencil2D. And will be able to support GraphicsGale, Piskel, Pixelorama and regular GIF-format in the future. Source: 10 months ago
  • Is there a way to change zoom?
If none of this sounds appealing, the only other suggestions I have are either find 3rd party magnifying lens software or to search for a new pixel editor. There are some newer pixel art editors out there, such as Pixelorama, PixiEditor and PixelMash. There are also general raster image editors, such as GIMP and Krita. Other suggestions are listed on Lospec. Source: about 1 year ago
  • KDE and GNOME seek $100k to turn Flathub into a store for the Linux desktop
Pixelorama is another open source pixel editor that looks increasingly like an alternative to Aseprite (although I do not think it is in any way officially trying to be a free clone of that). Source: about 1 year ago
  • Godot 4.0 beta 16: Initial .NET 7 support
There's Pixelorama[1], a web-based pixel art editor. Haven't really used it but it looks pretty impressive. 1: https://orama-interactive.itch.io/pixelorama. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
  • What's a good software for making sprites for RPG Maker?
I got Aseprite on Steam when it was on sale and it can export PNGs that should work. Also found https://orama-interactive.itch.io/pixelorama. I'm a big fan of GIMP in general but specialized tools can be more approachable and make common tasks easier. For example, both of these have a tiled viewing mode and mirrored/symmetry drawing options to help make tiles that tile well. Source: over 1 year ago
