  • Ease of Use
Lufi provides a simple, user-friendly interface that allows users to easily share files without a need for an account.

Possible disadvantages of Lufi

  • Limited Storage Period
The temporary nature of file storage might not be suitable for users who need long-term file hosting and sharing.
  • Self-hosting Requirements
To fully utilize Lufi, users need to have their own server, which might not be feasible for individuals or organizations without technical infrastructure or expertise.
  • Performance Dependence on Server
As a self-hosted service, the performance and reliability of Lufi are heavily dependent on the server it is hosted on, including factors such as server speed and uptime.

Wormhole.app features and specs

Wormhole.app uses strong end-to-end encryption (E2EE), ensuring that only the intended recipient can access the files. This provides a high level of security and privacy.
  • Fast Transfers
The app leverages modern technology to enable quick file transfers. Files start downloading for the recipient as soon as they begin uploading, reducing wait times.

Possible disadvantages of Wormhole.app

  • 24-Hour Expiry
While temporary storage is a pro for some, the 24-hour expiry time can be a limitation for users who need longer availability for their shared files.
  • No User Accounts
The lack of user accounts means there is no way to track past transfers or retrieve links once they are lost, which could be inconvenient for some users.
  • Internet Dependency
Wormhole.app requires a stable internet connection for both uploading and downloading files, which could be a limitation in areas with poor connectivity.
  • Browser-Based
As a browser-based application, Wormhole.app might not offer the same level of integration and features as a dedicated desktop or mobile app.
  • File Size Limits
Although the 10GB limit is generous, it may still be a constraint for users needing to transfer even larger files, such as extensive video projects or full datasets.

  • What to use for sharing files with the outside?
At $work we instantiated a lufi instance (in DMZ, subdomain DNS record, reverse-proxied) in order to allow our users / developers / projects managers to share files with our customers, just giving to them an HTTPS link. This solution may respond to your needs, too. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Lightweight solution to receive files
I have spun up Gokapi - which works a treat. However it requires a login - so is great for files going the other way. Have also looked at Lufi [doesnt require a login for end user but no way to randomly generate link (that I know about?) - worried about being spammed to oblivion] and ProjectSend [total overkill for my needs, but very cool - also requires a login for end user].
