LibreTranslate mentions (16)

  • Fast and secure translation on your local machine with a GUI
Interestingly, I think this is actually related to the offline translation features built into Firefox. Both are products of "Project Bergamot", but the Mozilla-maintained version was later merged into the Firefox application: https://browser.mt/ https://blog.mozilla.org/en/mozilla/local-translation-add-on-project-bergamot/... - Source: Hacker News / 17 days ago

2g. Both the source text and the indirect text are then put into a translator. https://libretranslate.com/. Source: 11 months ago
  • Do you know libraries which can translate simple texts offline in Java?
I don't know a java library as such, but there is LibreTranslate https://github.com/LibreTranslate/LibreTranslate which is a self-hosted service. Try it here: https://libretranslate.com/. Source: about 1 year ago

dict.cc mentions (150)

  • Klingen vs. sich anhören
Anyway, dict.cc says sich anhören is nur unpersönlich. So, I guess I can't use it to describe people? Like, Sie hört sich seltsam an would be incorrect? Source: 6 months ago
  • Excitement / I'm excited about...
So, I looked up excitement on dict.cc. It gave me...die Aufregung, die Begeisterung, die Spannung, die Erregung...which of these words would you all use for the general concept of "excitement?". Source: 7 months ago
  • [German Slovak and Hungarian> English] Austro Hungarian Military Pack
In Scandinavian (Swedish for example), verb loanwords end in '-era', while in the very similar German language, verb loanwords end in '-ieren' (eg, das Auto zu parkieren). But you see, until a spelling reform in approx. 1907, the spelling was '-iren'. LEO doesn't have 'assentieren', but dict.cc does. However, these two Websites I named are really wordlists, not dictionaries. Source: 10 months ago
  • is there an app or a website or something with practice options to increase my vocab?
You can use the vocab trainer on dict.cc. Source: 12 months ago
  • What do you use your Carrier for?
I thought this word would also exist in English, maybe with a little difference at best. My translator (dict.cc) recommends autarkic, autarkical (both with 'k', surprisingly) and autarchic. But my online spellchecker here underlines all of them with a red line. Source: 12 months ago
