LibreCAD, OpenSCAD (more script based and more for solids), FreeCAD. Source: 10 months ago
  • If I don't use Windows or Mac and only use Linux, will I run into a lot of compatibility issues?
CAD options on Linux are more limited than windows or mac but they do exist. The industry standard for 2d CAD files is the .dxf file format. I use LibreCAD. https://librecad.org/ The UI is a little clunky and eccentric in places but it is feature complete for 2d CAD drawings. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Windows / MacOS - Home/garden design
You could also try out free AutoCAD alternatives like libreCAD (2D), or brlCAD (2D&3D, I believe). Source: about 1 year ago
  • Everything you need to know about CAD humble bundle
It seems like a low risk purchase for $1, however, there are free options available too such as https://librecad.org/ . Or see https://www.reddit.com/r/humblebundles/comments/117ki1c/comment/j9v0v37/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3 for an older Autocad clone. Beckercad 2D seems like a niche product so I would probably invest my time learning something that is more mainstream. Source: about 1 year ago

  • Need advice on Arduino projects and programming
In addition to the other great suggestions here I wanted to point out that you can practice and learn a lot for free using an online simulator such as wokwi.com and tinkercad.com (among others)! And you don't have to buy an Arduino or any parts to get started! Source: 5 months ago
  • Arduino calender clock project
And you can prototype all of this first to get it working for free using an online simulator at sites like wokwi.com or tinkercad.com! Source: 5 months ago
  • I’m not a mechanic, but I just rolled these guys out of my shop for a cat show I was vending at.
Hit up tinkercad.com and you can start making things right away. My first design was there and it probably took 5 minutes for the prototype, then 15 minutes to tweak measurements. Really easy (and free) to dive in by doing. Once you nail that, you can get Fusion360 (also free for personal use) or a number of others. Source: 10 months ago
  • Anyone know where I can find an STL for record player Stitch?
When it comes to somewhat simple designs like this, I use tinkercad.com - it's a realllly basic drawing CAD web interface and you can make some pretty great stuff with it with a little creativity. Source: 11 months ago
  • Brand new: what do I do?
But if you want to start right now without buying anything go to tinkercad.com and create an account. You can create circuits and put code in there It's probably best to mess around there first anyway while you get used to resistors etc so you don't blow anything. Source: 12 months ago
