The problem to me is that someone needs to maintain it. Setting it up is simple (k3s makes it very simple), but since you depend on it, if it breaks, you are in trouble as debugging is not exactly simple, so better use a supportable ready-out-of-the-box solutions like Rancher, Charmed Kubernetes or kublr incl. Authenticating with Kyma is a (in my opinion) unnecessary challenge as it leverages the OIDC-login plugin for kubectl. You find a description of the setup here. For OSX there is homebrew or pyenv (pyenv is another solution on Linux). As pyenv compiles from source it will require setting up XCode (the Apple IDE) tools to support this which can be pretty bulky.
