  It doesn't try to solve the same use cases that Calibre does, but I built an open source (EPUB only) manager / reader / statistics tracker called AnthoLume [0].   No I don't have any special lag. But I also don't use the default reading app, I use Koreader. I think the normal reading app also doesn't have much lag. Most modern eReaders have much less than 5s lag. Source: 11 months ago
