Bitdefender and Kaspersky have excellent free offerings. Kaspersky is lightweight. Both updates tend to be seamless. There is no NGAV consumer AV offering in the sense that they don't need constant signature updates like SentinelOne. However, with both solutions I have mentioned I have not seen updates cause crashing. Unless your PC has a hardware issue. Source: 9 months ago

I would use Bitdefender Free or Kaspersky Free over Windows Defender and Malwarebytes. The free versions of either of these two are more than enough for a personal computer. I'm using NordVPN with kill switch enabled, and I already checked with https://www.iplocation.net/ and http://checkmyip.torrentprivacy.com/ to confirm I'm routing all traffic through the VPN. I tried getting a new IP from Nord, but it still didn't fix it. I'm using this ad block plugin in chrome https://getadblock.com/en/ , so I don't think this is an ad. Source: about 1 year ago
