I found https://jqplay.org/ to be a very helpful online learning/testing tool. Simpler, but along the lines of https://regex101.com/ for regular expressions. Source: almost 2 years ago
I do not get an error with only '.' as the jq query string and I do not get an error when I run with a constant value like you suggested. I tested my query string at https://jqplay.org/ but I think you are correct that the result may not be as I expect. I should be able to take it from here. Thanks for the assistance. Repo author here, let me promote jq a bit – it's much more than a simple command-line JSON processor you know it for: * It is a generator-based language which means you operate streams of values rather than single values. Takes some time to get used to, but you'd never want to go back to traditional model, at least for data processing. Most APIs love JSON; it's their go-to language. Getting the hang of its structure can help keep your boat afloat in this sea of code. JSON mistakes can have you drifting off course, so it's good practice to validate your JSON using tools like this handy validator. It's like having a spell-check for your syntax, ensuring your JSON is shipshape before you set sail with tests. - Source: dev.to / 5 months ago
