   When I tried using OBS just to make a video of a game, it was laggy and had many dropped frames. It was hard to use and I couldn't figure out how to stop the lagging. Whereas, the Xbox Game bar was way simpler and the clip had no dropped frames or lag. I prefer to use Xbox Game Bar nowadays. Sometimes I go back to OBS and try it again to see it was a bug and had been patched but I had no success.

  Shiny White Box sells a variety of screen capture apps, they work really well in cropping a specific area or the whole screen. Their iShowU app has been around for a long time and has a deep feature set, it has recently been optimized for the M1. It can encode in a variety of different formats like MP4, H264 and MOV.   Back in the day, for recording screens directly, I used a program called iShowU. It was great for recording screens, tutorials, etc. I'm sure there are a hundred other apps like that if you just look for "Video Screen Capture" or something like that. But I really liked iShowU. • Trying to install iShowU on 10.6.8

  Have you downloaded a compatible version of the program? Go to https://shinywhitebox.com, scroll all the way down and under the "Legacy Builds" section click on one of the links that says Snow Leopard. If that doesn't work, unfortunately I don't know what's wrong. Source: over 2 years ago
