I started with Droidcam during the pandemic and switched to Iriun. Currently using it with an old iPhone SE over USB, but also used with Huawei P20 Pro. Not many features, but just works. https://iriun.com/. - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
I clamp the lasergun and my phone (with little stands and clamps like this , with the phone's cam pointing at the gun "nozzle") on my adjustable standing desk, then sit with my back in front of it, looking at my laptop on my lap that shows a stream from my smartphone cam (iriun.com). For webcam I suggest a cellphone(s) and the droidcam or iruin software. Plenty of tutorials on youtube on how to set it up. Its pretty easy and I've used some very old cellphones with decent picture quality. Source: over 1 year ago

Download and install a free program called Iriun Webcam from https://iriun.com -- This will be used later, you need an unused audio device for routing purposes, I like Iriun because it's free and I've never had any trouble with it, it also has four channels which can be useful. Audacity is a great project and I’m very glad it exists. Personally I only need pretty basic wave editing and am happy with OcenAudio (https://ocenaudio.com - free but closed source), it’s the closest thing I’ve found to Cool Edit 2000 (which I still think is the best wave editor ever!) and has quite a nice UI. - Source: Hacker News / over 3 years ago
