This website is only in Czech so you need to use Google translate but it allows you to check all the train/bus connections https://idos.idnes.cz/vlakyautobusymhdvse/spojeni/. Sometimes you can also buy directly from there. Source: 5 months ago
This is a nice trail close to Prague. https://en.mapy.cz/s/jahamebefo There are a lot of trains on that line, so you don't have to worry that much about timing. If you want you can make it longer by starting in Davle. You can check the train connections on https://idos.idnes.cz/vlakyautobusymhdvse/spojeni/, I think you can also buy the tickets directly from there. Source: over 1 year ago
There are so many options. The public transport connections are very good and there are trails going almost in all directions. I've been almost everywhere around Prague that can be done in one day with public transport. All you need to do is check mapy.cz pick a route that has many viewpoints or castles or whatever and then try to find on idos. Some suggestion that are very easy for beginners... The Transportr app[0], which is Free Software and even on F-Droid, shows public transit directions for a number of cities around the world. There is now a standardized format for transit routing and timetables, and transit authorities freely share it, so Google has no especial monopoly in that regard.
