  • Ask HN: What Are Your Hobbies?
Photography - Specifically, virtual focus synthetic aperture photography. I used to commute via the South Shore Railroad to Chicago, and had about 50 minutes each way with my laptop. Most days, I'd be processing photos. Some are aligned in a focal plane, some are aligned other ways. Here's an old gallery on Flickr.[2] I got into this after seeing a demo of Marc Levoy's work at Stanford, where the demo showed a... - Source: Hacker News / 6 months ago
  • I just can't believe that they don't know how it really works. This is just way too dim.
Go try Hugin. I have been involved with photography at many levels since 1974. You are wrong but since you have trust issues so try the method they used for a while and see how it works. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Course or training for shooting panoramas
Adobe's Ps/Lr photomerge works for most folks, but can be kind of primitive vs. Dedicated stitching software if there are stitching errors you need to correct. If it fails you, you may want to also grab something like Hugin (open source). Source: about 1 year ago
  • Stereocubemaps in Oculus Quest 2
Not a perfect answer but If you convert your cubemaps into top/bottom pano splits you can view them using most of the vr viewer apps on the store. You can do this with hugin. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Ask HN: Which photographers do you admire?
Stand in one place, take several pictures as the person walks/rides across, then use Hugin[1] to align the images, and compost them into the final image with GIMP[2]. If you're more prepared, you could just use a tripod to skip the need for alignment. [1] https://hugin.sourceforge.io/ [2] https://www.gimp.org/. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago

Take a semi-decent photo of yourself and (either you or someone you know who knows how) run it through something like Midjourney or another Generative AI platform and have them make some slight changes. Or run an image of yourself that you have through an online platform like befunky.com and run an artistic filter on it, making it either illustrative or more abstract. Source: 11 months ago
  • I was so happy to see that this "Angel Lichfield" rose by David Austin bloomed recently in my backyard garden.
I use picmonkey.com and befunky.com to create an artistic effect from the original photo that I took with my Canon Powershot camera. I call it digital photoart. Source: over 1 year ago
  • What camera should I use to get this somewhat older and grainy type of look???
I did a quick google search and found befunky.com - never used them before so I'm not endorsing them or anything. But if you use their photo editor, go into the effects tab and then go to cinematic, the first option under cinematic is 'film grain'. Thats what you are looking for. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • [Task] Curate some product images from Search engines
I will give you 10 products per day. You will send me 10 images finished images which consists of, 4 large images, and 6 collages. For collages you can use befunky.com. You do not need photoshop experience or any real art experience. All the images you just click download. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Im new to making vids and looking for things to improve. Please let me know at least 1 thing you would change about this. Giving Lambda for honest feedback :))
No problem, we are all here to support each other and I sincerely liked your work. I actually use online editing websites such as befunky.com because it's more practical and requires less technical work but if you're serious, you can learn some tricks on Adobe Photoshop which would be the more professional approach.
