My solution, that I started to use probably 20 years ago, is having my own emails & domain on a webhost server. Expect to pay $30 for a webhost, domain name & registration each year. Btw, the reason why I disagree is because the author seems to only see two possible models for social networks: centralised corporations vs all-powerful admins.
