I m that cynical boomer. I use mostly apps like Whatsapp, and garage door opener. Can't use banks apps as you can only login to one account. Everything I do is on the browser. https://hn.premii.com & https://reddit.premii.com - almost 10 years old, it still works. No need to update the framework or need someone's approval. - Source: Hacker News / 7 months ago
If you don't comment, https://hn.premii.com works pretty good without extension or anything. - Source: Hacker News / 11 months ago
I personally use https://hn.premii.com for the topic on the left and the conversation on the right. Customizing the colors is also nice. The drawback is there doesn't appear to be a good way to participate in the conversation. How does everyone else ingest HN? - Source: Hacker News / about 2 years ago
Here is a list of alternative UIs for HN: https://blog.luke.lol/tech/hacker-news-alternatives/ Two that display comments: https://hackerweb.app/ https://hn.premii.com/ I don't know how good they are with screenreaders. - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
I really like how Premii[0] does it: minimal indentation, visual cues for thread depth, and ability to collapse current thread to any arbitrary level from any comment. The smooth scrolling is awful though. [0] https://hn.premii.com/#/comments/28385024. - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
If you don’t mind using an alternative front-end, I’ve built an open source one[0] that supports dark mode and some other things I was missing when using HN on larger screens 0. https://modernorange.io. - Source: Hacker News / 11 months ago
I like it! I went a step further and made my own client[0] so that it’s easier to navigate on larger screens and mobile, but could not find a good solution to support logging in. An extension is a great middle ground. 0. https://modernorange.io. - Source: Hacker News / 11 months ago
Nice! Felt the same way but took it a step further and designed a whole new front-end[0] so that it was easier to use on modern large format screens (and added some things like dark mode). 0. https://modernorange.io. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
The API is pretty nice to work with, I’ve used it to build an open source alternative HN client[0]. I do wish it would support login though, but you can’t have it all. 0. https://modernorange.io. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
If you are planning to build a client based on a different API/back end service Nuxt 3 with server routes will be enough. I recent built an open source Hacker News client with Nuxt 3 since I can rely on their back-end. Feel free to take a look at the source code. Source: almost 2 years ago
