GTHost HetznerThe best part for me about GTHost looking glass hosting, by far, is having the ability to edit my HTML/PHP pages directly in the file manager (simple text edits). I was planning on installing Movable Type both as a blog and as an online web-based editor, but this is even better! And the control panel (Vesta) is so intuitive, clean, attractive, simple, quick, and... fun!
When it comes to WordPress, they know their stuff. When security was an issue about a year ago, GTHost was on top of it and had measures in place to protect its hosting accounts. Every encounter has been pleasant; they know and care about server security and have been known to work overnight to solve a problem. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone needing affordable and reliable dedicated hosting.
When I was first looking for a vps host, GTHost was the only one that stuck out to me. It seemed to have a good deal with enough features for me to start a website. At this point the technical support and customer service was great! I couldn't figure out why something wasn't working, so I sent a 'trouble ticket' and they got back to me in less than a half and hour!

Self hosted Gitlab instance is an option. The only cost is hosting (personally I am using hetzner.com CPX31 instance, 16€ for 160GB a month but you can add 1TB volume for 45€ a month if you need more space). Just keep in mind that Gitlab needs about 8GB RAM to work correctly (it crashes on 2 and is only kinda stable on 4). You can also use an older computer or a NAS if you prefer to go that route.
