Most Bizzare of all, even using Google's DNS, I can't resolve "maps.google.com" or "news.bbc.co.uk" on the network... Yet I CAN resolve "google.com/maps" and "bbc.co.uk/news". Source: about 1 year ago
For somebody new to the system I would also recommend something like the Transit App, which you can put your whole trip into ahead of time and will give you literal step by step directions to and within stations, including voice prompts if you want.
