This is such a wonderful abd helpful game-making platform, even for the beginners. And i know and I've played in the several games ,for example, which were made so thoroughly and carefully and also simply by using “UNITY” . So the game quality is just a matter of the programmer's skill,i think.
Based on our record, Unity seems to be a lot more popular than Gio UI. While we know about 198 links to Unity, we've tracked only 7 mentions of Gio UI. I didn't bash Java/Kotlin. In fact, I have written few android apps in Kotlin, Java and I also have fiddled with Jetpack compose, JNI and NDK (I have also played with mpv's Opengl/Vulkan's rendering on Android if that matters to you). I don't want to share the projects of mine because I don't want to reveal my identity. > https://gioui.org/ I know that tailscale's android application is written in it but I don't... - Source: Hacker News / 8 months ago
Tell me you've never done any Android development, without telling me... This is such a low-effort "take" without any effort to justify _why_ you'd want something like this. There's a high amount of impedance mismatch trying to write GUIs in a non-GC language like Rust which _has_ to run on what's essentially a Java VM (ART). At least with a language like Go, it somewhat makes sense, and has been attempted:... - Source: Hacker News / 8 months ago

I've been writing a WASM app using gio & I found myself wanting for a simplified web library. In addition I drew some inspiration from leptos server functions. A friend of mine mentioned it has some similarities with next.js. Source: 11 months ago
Aside from this, I noticed the 2D game section was written using the Lua programming language, and the 3D game section used the Unity Game engine. Having played around with Lua for a bit, I realised I didn't like using it. There wasn't any rational reason for my dislike. It was mostly vibes but, considering one of my primary goals was entertainment, it was a real issue I had to resolve otherwise I'd likely drop... - Source: dev.to / about 12 hours ago
Unity. Can't say much. It's the most popular choice for 2D game development. But somehow, my heart wasn't in writing in C#. Also, for some entirely subjective reason, I had a skeptical attitude towards the engine. - Source: dev.to / 30 days ago
Sooo. Unity. It's a 3D game engine created by a company of the same name. It was published in 2005 and is one of the most used game engines in the world due to its simplicity, the number of documents, and the easy way to publish games on all platforms. - Source: dev.to / 5 months ago
