  • App that doesn't exist showing in start menu search
Get and unzip Geek Uninstaller, right-click geek.exe > run as admin. Look for it there, then select View > Microsoft Store apps and look for it there. You checked both startup folders? Run: Shell:startup Shell:common startup. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Good PC cleaner
Geek uninstaller (Removes leftover files from apps you uninstall, to keep your PC running faster over time): https://geekuninstaller.com/. Source: about 1 year ago
  • How to remove this directory from files?
Believe it or not, REinstall the MEGAsync application, then right-click the MEGA folder in the navigation pane and remove it. If you can't remove it like that, open the MEGAsync settings > Advanced tab > check the 'Don't show icons in the left pane of Windows Explorer' box. Once the entry in the navigation pane is gone, download Geek Uninstaller, unzip it, right-click geek.exe and run as administrator,... Source: about 1 year ago
  • Can't install, uninstall nor repair
There's an app called "geek uninstaller". It can handle stuff like this. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Constant need to unplug and replug my audio interface
I have owned one of these since they first came out years ago and it has proven to be extremely reliable even though they can be picky with the wrong/older drivers. Make sure to completely remove the old drivers first by using an uninstall tool such as the FREE Geek Uninstaller - https://geekuninstaller.com/. Source: about 1 year ago

  • Is Steam safe on Mac ?
There is an incredible software tool called block-block https://objective-see.org/products/blockblock.html (actually all of Patrick's tools are epic, but this one is specific to your post). This will allow you to block Steam's "start with the OS" BS entirely. Note that you may have to reinstall Steam or wait for the next update before you get the option to block if Steam is already installed - it only works... Source: 11 months ago
  • Anyone else on the verge of losing it?
This is what I use BlockBlock for, though all of Objective-See's security tools are great. Source: over 1 year ago
  • what is that "sh" thing?
True to the shell command comment, but it could mean (guess) steam helper. Check out https://objective-see.org/products/blockblock.html for a program called BlockBlock. It will show system processes that are admin-deep that are running or are activated by software. And it would be a better warning system. Then you have the option to Approve Once, Approve, or Deny. Get their program Oversite too. It monitors mics... Source: over 1 year ago
  • Still got pop ups notifications after uninstalling
Yes, but if you turn off notifications, it's not safe. You won't be able to keep track of which applications are autoloaded on your macbook. I would advise you to use the BlockBlock extension to prevent apps from autoloading and get rid of annoying notifications. https://objective-see.org/products/blockblock.html. Source: over 1 year ago
  • How do I stop 'Samsung electronics' from trying to run stuff in the background when I deleted the app? It came with the purchase of a portable Samsung SSD but I didn't want the software so I deleted it, but somehow I still get notifications. Please be kind, I'm new to MacOS.
You can use BlockBlock to block background components from installing. More details are on their website. Source: over 1 year ago
