Give your laptop a really intensive CPU + GPU workload, for example Prime95 and Furmark simultaneously (www.mersenne.org, geeks3d.com), and monitor temperatures for CPU package and all its cores with HWiNFO (www.hwinfo.com). Have you tried using Diplay Driver Uninstaller to perform a clean wipe of all display drivers that have been installed and then reinstall the most current driver for your card?
