  • which of these would you rather attempt for $1million?
Play a bit against the Chess Engine https://stockfishchess.org/ if you want to get an idea about what an elite chess player can do. Source: 10 months ago
  • The Q&A Megathread for new and beginner chess players
So if you want to play against Stockfish, play against it. And in fact I would recommend not playing it on chess.com or Lichess with their artificial crippling levels. Download Stockfish, put it on a GUI and play it full strength and have fun getting utterly demolished. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Is ChessBase really that necessary?
For us mortals I suggest SCIDvsPC https://scidvspc.sourceforge.net/ and CaissaBase http://caissabase.co.uk/ (4.8million games) then add Stockfish https://stockfishchess.org/ for analysis. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Any good chess programs
Just to analyze positions in general, you can use the analysis boards on websites, and I'd recommend also having an offline chess GUI running Stockfish. You can sometimes go deeper and fiddle with more things. My recommendations are Scid vs. PC or PyChess. You would need to download Stockfish too, as the built-in ones are a bit oudated. • Need help with chess project
Hey, thanks for the mention! Unfortunately I am writing the code for my board, but from all the comments I've received, it seems like Stockfish may be a helpful resource. Source: about 1 year ago
