I use FreeTube also. This is what I am using on my Mac. They have the app for Windows, MacOSx64, and various Linux OSs. No app for iOSs but maybe if we support him he may want to go further. On my Android tablet and phone I am using Grayjay, which also is another alternative. Source: 5 months ago

You can either use Firefox for Android and install ublock plugin, or use an alternative youtube app. The best option for that IMO is revanced, but that one is a bit more complicated, because it's actually the regular youtube app with additional features patched in and you need to do the patching yourself for legal reasons.
