This is nice. It's a disgrace that Youtube does not have the option to allow only certain channels for a kids' account, but of course it's brings Google more money to trap kids in endless video garbage, so here we are. I made a similar setup for my kids, but simply locally using Freetube (https://freetubeapp.io/). - Source: Hacker News / about 2 months ago
Google for "sponsorblock" extension for your browser, crowdsourced data makes it skip all the promotions, intros, "like and subscribe" and all other unneeded parts. And when you're at it, ublock origin also skips the youtube ads. There's also: https://freetubeapp.io/ , but it's a constant cat and mouse game with youtube, where you now have to refresh a video a few times before it starts playing (then it works... - Source: Hacker News / 2 months ago
In the spirit of the video (and the article), I'm watching this on Freetube [0] while hiding the comments, recommended videos tab, and pretty much everything else apart from the video description. [0] https://freetubeapp.io/. - Source: Hacker News / 3 months ago

This seems like a good place to mention my favorite Firefox Addon for Android: https://github.com/mozilla/video-bg-play Some days ago I was wondering how it works and was kinda surprised just now that this is from mozilla itself. Reading the project Readme makes this even straight up sound like a privacy addon. I wonder why this is not natively supported. - Source: Hacker News / 5 months ago
I use Video Background Play Fix [1] (along with uBlock of course). "Firefox for Android can continue playing video even if you switch to another tab or app. However, sites can detect these user actions with the Page Visibility API and the Fullscreen API. This add-on is designed to block events and properties exposed by the APIs." [1] - Source: Hacker News / 7 months ago
I found this browser extension which is supposed to do that for YouTube. https://github.com/mozilla/video-bg-play. I rearranged the code into this tampermonkey script. https://gitlab.com/bteastman/block-window-visibility/-/blob/main/Block_window_focus.user.js. Source: over 2 years ago
If this add-on works for you https://github.com/mozilla/video-bg-play You can try setting https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/Advanced-settings#userresourceslocation to raw version of this script https://gist.github.com/gwarser/3b47b61863bffcfebe4498c77b2301cd#file-video-bg-play-js and adding youtube.com##+js(video-bg-play) to My filters.
