Don't do bootcamp. Start with something like https://freecodecamp.org and take a few lessons. Try to build something from that and see how motivated you are. If you see some progress and this thing still excites you, then may be find an engineer (a friend/co worker etc) who can guide you a bit as you continue to build something. Interesting, have you considered software engineering or data science? If you have a gift for math you may enjoy either of those routes. You can be self-taught for either too, you don't need a degree - just a good portfolio. There are a lot of resources (paid and free) like FreeCodeCamp, Zero To Mastery and Coursera (you can apply for the "scholarship" on any course - it's automated and will be approved after 14... Absolutely not. It's def doable. I tried udemy, coursera and so many options but nothing worked until I landed at https://zerotomastery.io/. I don't work for them but I took their python courses and loved it. It was just a lot of wasted time in between. Source: over 1 year ago
I started on TryHackMe!, then started zerotomastery.io hacking course setting up my first VM. I got two free courses on hackersacademy.com. I'm in networking limbo, because I'm fascinated by the internet protocol suite.
