Interesting, have you considered software engineering or data science? If you have a gift for math you may enjoy either of those routes. You can be self-taught for either too, you don't need a degree - just a good portfolio. There are a lot of resources (paid and free) like FreeCodeCamp, Zero To Mastery and Coursera (you can apply for the "scholarship" on any course - it's automated and will be approved after 14 days). In the UK we have government funded bootcamps too that you can do for free, I don't know if your government has something similar. You can also freelance too if you prefer flexibility.

It 100% does, even in Canada! Though from what I've heard some Canadians get remote jobs from US companies too on websites like We Work Remotely that state North America or US/Canada specifically.
