Don't do bootcamp. Start with something like https://freecodecamp.org and take a few lessons. Try to build something from that and see how motivated you are. If you see some progress and this thing still excites you, then may be find an engineer (a friend/co worker etc) who can guide you a bit as you continue to build something. For the record, I find the teaching IDE BlueJ very easy to use and try things out in JavaFX. It is very light to use as it isn't designed as a normal IDE but you can simply write a JavaFX class and right-click to run as it. Source: almost 3 years ago
