Being able to see is important. And your mom is likely to notice eventually if you aren't wearing them. If it's just the frames, you may be able to get away with taping them for awhile. It's best to just come out to her, be honest, and offer to help any way you can to replace them. Be willing to wear ugly taped up ones for a little bit until they can be replaced.
