  Most web browsers have a quick proxy switcher extension and I recommend you use that if you do tunnel your traffic over ssh. My personal favorite is FoxyProxy. A couple things to note is if your using socks5 with a browser, check the box proxy DNS over socks5. If you use firefox go to about:config, accept the warning.   3.The only way I've come across to document the amount of time spent is to use timesheets or time tracking softwares. Some examples of time tracking softwares are Toggl, Hubstaff, and Time Doctor.
