Craigslist CAN be shady, but that is because they do a bad job filtering out suspicious posts. It is kind of like a treasure hunt for rental spaces on the internet, where you need to search very carefully and with a lot of filters to find a decent place. I've been looking for an apartment in manhattan, mainly using streeteasy but recently came across a site called forrent.com. The apartments look great and the prices are even better, but after doing some brief googling on the site I found some reviews on https://www.trustpilot.com/review/www.forrent.com that seem to indicate it's a scam. For about 15 years I've been checking realtor.com for a place in Santa Fe if I ever when the lottery. I like the Eldorado community. Source: 5 months ago
