10 Best FTP Clients for WordPress Users (Mac and Windows)
ForkLift only works for Mac users, so Windows and Linux folks should look at some of the other FTP clients. As for choosing ForkLift based on features, consider it if you’d like access to many remote connections, some of which include Google Drive, SMB, and NFS. This is also a premium software, so if you don’t want to pay for an FTP client then you need to look for something...

  • macOS Finder is still bad at network file copies
Forklift (https://binarynights.com/) and Path Finder (https://www.cocoatech.io/) are the two big ones I think. - Source: Hacker News / about 2 months ago
  • Double Commander – Changes in version 1.1.0
If you're on Mac, you might also want to try Forklift – by coincidence, they just release major version 4 yesterday. https://binarynights.com/. - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
  • Total Commander
There are couple which will have two panels by default, but in my opinion, ForkLift is very native macOS commander-like app -- https://binarynights.com. - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
  • Finder alternatives for performance?
Forklift is what I use though never with that many files in a single directory. I know I have used it for ones that had 1000+ files with no slowness. It has a free trial so give it a try. Source: 12 months ago
  • DESKTOP2 – A Graphical User Interface for DOS
Heh, I've been there as well a decade ago when switching from windows to macos. Far manager was also the first program I'd also install on any box. I can assure you, this will eventually pass :) To be fair, far is also not a match to modern file browsers like https://binarynights.com (forklift), especially if you need s3 integration etc. - Source: Hacker News / 12 months ago

  • TIL there's a fork of the unmaintained p7zip port of 7-Zip
The p7zip port of 7-Zip is several releases behind and the project seems to be abandoned. I discovered this when a large archive failed to extract with Engrampa which uses it. It reported a "Headers Error" which is due to a compatibility problem between zip format implementations. 7-Zip has a fix but the port doesn't. But there's a fork on GitHub which is being actively maintained. Check it out. Source: over 2 years ago
  • What compression tool you mainly use?
I use Engrampa. Which archive format I use depends on the use case. For example, if Windows users are involved, I usually use Rar archives. Under Linux, I usually use tar.xz. Source: about 3 years ago
