Watch or read some tutorials before you get started if you decide to go down that route; and of course don't copy or plagiarize some else's work. Take the concept and make it your own. Custom template icons are not really possible. The icons are actually a graphical font, not images like .png, and this font is modified by reMarkable and embedded within the Xochitl binary. It is technically possible to replace it, but you would have to ensure its new length is fewer than its original bytes.
