Just as a data point. This feature of one-note (text boxes where you click) is the single reason I’m looking for something else. I absolutely hate any interface that has me fiddle with layout when I’m trying to focus on semantics. There are a number of free and commercial softwares developed for diagrams, flowcharts, and mind mapping with similar features. I haven't used them in a while, but in the past I've liked yEd and VUE. Both are free and support multiple platforms. Source: over 3 years ago
