Couchers.org is a non-profit and free platform, built by volunteers and responsible to the couch surfing community, instead of investors. Our goal is to reclaim couch surfing and make it easy and safe for people to connect across cultures, keeping the free-sharing spirit alive and all the amazing travel experiences accessible to everyone. For this we’re including some of the best features from other platforms but tackling the main issues such as: profit incentives, safety, disconnect from community needs, or outdated functionality.

15 Airbnb Alternatives You Should Know About
Though there are plenty of options available on the site for single travelers, Flipkey excels at group bookings in popular tourist destinations. The large majority of their properties are vacation rentals and holiday homes which fit four, five, six or more people. You may not get that homely feel, and you may not get insight from a local host, but if you’re traveling in a...

Best 12 Sites Like Airbnb for Vacations or Quick and Easy Rentals
A popular Airbnb alternative, FlipKey.com is owned by travel giant TripAdvisor and offers over 300,000 rental listings in over 190 countries from around the world. In addition, all property owners who list their places on FlipKey have to be verified by the website’s staff, so the chance that you’ll book with someone who has dishonest intentions is very low. FlipKey also...

8 AirBNB Alternatives: The Best AirBNB Competitors
FlipKey is powered by TripAdvisor and lets owners list their homes online, then charges a 3% commission from guest payments. The interesting thing about FlipKey is that its results get listed in TripAdvisor results, so people who may not normally shop for rentals on a home sharing site could see your listing. This exposure could increase your bookings if you’re a host.

  • Long-time Couchsurfing user suspended for mentioning "couchers.org" in a private message & remains suspended for not agreeing to ridiculous communication policy
Last month, after mentioning the phrase "couchers.org" (a free alternative to Couchsurfing) in a private message to another user (who said on her profile that she prefers to be contacted there), I was instantly suspended. Source: 11 months ago
  • Why are there no negative references?
Yep, it's an issue with couchsurfing, nobody wants to leave a negative reference. This was actively being discussed in couchers.org. I myself felt pretty uncomfortable leaving a neutral reference once. Source: 11 months ago
  • Warmshowers as a host??
You could also use couchers.org. It's more a follow-up to the broken couchsurfing.com, so a much wider scope. Currently it's free and says it will stay that way, they want to go with volunteer effort. Source: 12 months ago
  • Airbnb vs Camping
Couchsurfing: my preferred way of touring: you get to meet great and likeminded people, you don't have to lug around camping gear (although it's good to bring an indoor-sleeping bag). The site with name couchsurfing.com is broken. But the oldschool warmshowers.org and the new couchers.org are great! You have to treat this type of hospitality as a gift and not consider it a free service. If you can, hosting others... Source: 12 months ago
  • Backpacking through the states by train for the first time. Any tips?
Also, I would suggest joining a hospitality org. The best, original one is Servas - www.servas.org - but there's couchers.org, trustroots.org and others. it could help you immensely. Source: 12 months ago
