  I don’t know if this is any help, but there is a site called flexjobs dot com. (Not affiliated, just sharing information). They specialize in remote/telecommuting/ flexible schedule positions. It’s all on the up and up, it’s a real company, and the jobs posted are real jobs, not scams. If you want to go the conference route for networking, instead you should like at cheap-but-sponsored tech conferences. Often there are people on the lookout for potential hires at the various talks/booths.
