I'm not sure I'd say Firestore is the ideal "serverless" backend for a Svelte app, but it sure does make it easier to develop and iterate faster. Plus with Flamelink it's provided a decent solution for use with a full-blown non-technical CMS system that we didn't have to build. The main draw of any CMS is that it lets authorized users customize content without having any knowledge of how to code. Honestly if you just wanna get up and running quickly with the least hassle, go for Shopify. But if you actually want to build something, run it yourself and have no fees, you should check out my project vendure. It is built on Node with TypeScript and handles all the hard stuff for you. If OTS does not fit the bill, try one of the many open-source e-commerce frameworks that already solved all the hard parts for you, and allow you to just build out the custom parts specific to your requirements. Another option is to take a framework that handles 80% of the stuff you need (customer/order/inventory managament, payments, shipping etc) but that gives you the flexibility to create whatever custom flows you need.
