However, you can use Firebase for free. Firebase is a BaaS and offers a pretty generous free tier for hosting, database, etc. There are a few CMS options for Firebase. For my current portfolio, I use FireCMS to manage all the content on my site. I initially looked into CMS's like Strapi and Directus to possibly handle my admin UI + API all at once. I haven't found anything that looks like it can do this yet, but I'd be very happy to be proven wrong. I would recommend using Headless CMS with no-to-low code techs like Strapi. With Strapi you can build backend using only the user interface. Therefore your API backend code changes by itself. My website is built with Strapi as backend and Nextjs as frontend. Source: 11 months ago
