9 Best Linux Gaming Distributions in 2021
SteamOS is not your usual desktop operating system. It is tailored for playing games via Steam on your machine. You may choose to run common Linux applications as well – but I’d suggest you to test it out only if you want to use Steam as your preferred platform for gaming.

  • Gold for the best free cleaner for Windows
I use a KDE derivative, FerenOS. To me personally, KDE has the right amount of customizability and ease-of-use but for the record, I did try out Mint, Zorin OS, Stock Ubuntu, Vanilla OS, Deepin, Pop!_OS, Fedora Linux, Arch Linux, Nitrux, Elementary OS, Puppy Linux and pretty much all of the Linux distros under the sun. KDE was what I like best. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Installing KDE Plasma desktop without replacing Linux Mint entirely
There's also Feren OS, which is a combination of Linux Mint's Cinnamon and KDE. It's a distro out of the UK. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Something Minimalist but User-friendly
Try Feren OS. It's made with windows users in mined and has a Windows 11 Layout. And I think there is a layout called classical which might be what you want as far as the feel. Source: over 1 year ago
  • KDE Wayland Tearing Protocol Ready to Be Merged
I've tried to like Gnome, but I find it a hassle to rebuild things to work the way I want it (nevermind the worry that when things updates, I have to wait and recheck many of the extensions to update or if things breaks). I really recommend trying out more customized KDE experience like Feren, Garuda, or Xero. You may find a UX you like, and then you can just use that as basis with other distro that suits your... • Is it possible for a PC to only run steam and steam games and nothing else?
SteamOS exists but may limit the games that could be played since it's a Linux based OS. Steam itself also has a web browser so no matter the way you do it have to research how or if you can disable that. There's also ways you could clamp windows down a lot but that's a lot of work. • So about SteamOS and ChimeraOS...
I'm a bit confused about SteamOS. Is this the offical version for desktop devices? If so, why do people use ChimeraOS if there is already an offical version of it? Or is it not complete. Source: 7 months ago

  • Install on Steam Deck?
I know I could install Dungeondraft on my Steam Deck when running Windows, but is it possible to install Dungeondraft on my Steam Deck when in "Desktop Mode" of the SteamOS? I know Dungeondraft specifically says "Ubuntu" as one of the OSes it supports, but SteamOS is based on Debian Jessie. I've tried to research how much different Jessie is from Ubuntu, but I'm not having much luck. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Why do reviewers still say that the Steam Deck can't run Windows?
    It’s literally a Debian distro…. https://store.steampowered.com/steamos. Source: about 1 year ago
