We were looking for a scalable way to moderate all our images and text messages. Very happy with the Sightengine integration: very flexible in terms of how and what you filter, works great for us! We started with "standard" moderation and then created our own workflow with all our rules (community rules & guidelines). They do automated moderation only from what I understand.
Sightengine might be a bit more popular than EWWW Image. We know about 2 links to it since March 2021 and only 2 links to EWWW Image. We are tracking product recommendations and mentions on various public social media platforms and blogs. They can help you identify which product is more popular and what people think of it.
For pictures I recommend using a mix of WordPress image sizes and the ewww image plugin. How this works is you set the sizes for the images in WordPress that you want it to display for desktop, tablet and phone and the ewww plugin takes all the pictures and makes version of each size and delivers the right size picture for the device for you without you having to think about it.
