I've done some research on EquityZen and I'm not sure if it's the right place to invest. This platform is very expensive and way beyond my league since I have to be making around $200,000 a year before I can invest here. Source: over 1 year ago
I tried to use EquityZen a few years ago, but unfortunately the company blocked the sale. I also talked to ESO Fund, but they weren't able to work with me since I wasn't a US citizen or resident. I've just sent an application to Quid and have requested a call, so I'm waiting to see if that might be an option. Source: almost 2 years ago
I'm a former early employee for a startup in California [Deleware Corp] that is still pre-IPO but just raised a Series E with $1B+ post money valuation. You can't start a successful startup in Israel if you're a Palestinian. Most of their tech startups are run by ex-IDF intelligence officers off of companies like ourcrowd.com and there is ethnic bias involved. The investors are American billionaires. I have a tax related question. If I purchase a pre-IPO stock in the secondary market or via crowdfunding sites like ourcrowd.com, then do I need to pay tax on any capital gains that the stock might have in subsequent funding rounds. So for example, if I purchase pre-IPO stock at $1 in Series B and in Series C, it is valuated at $2, does that become a tax event as a capital gain even though I have not sold the... And they do have deep pockets. All one has to do is look at the seed funding at ourcrowd.com to find out how deep the pockets are. I don't understand how that is anti-Semitic. I wish we had deep pockets. Source: over 2 years ago
